As the title suggests, we are having a few tiny hiccups in relation to the van. Before I begin I would like to say, in its defence, that it was proper cold this morning.
MOT day, the day of reckoning when we finally discover how much the beast will cost us. This is bearing in mind that last week was also MOT day, and the van epic-failed on that one by not starting. So once more we wake up at 7:30 am and head for the door. Stevo the Stilo, despite being a little grumpy at the early hour and the frosty temperatures, starts first time, and him and I then go and find the van. An eerie air of frustration is misting up the cab, and not a sound can be heard. It would appear that the glow plugs are not glowing. Which means that the van is not going anywhere.
Stevo volunteers a jump start, the ridiculous plastic cover over his battery is freed and cables are attached. On a side note, why do car manufacturers now feel the need to decorate the engine with plastic covers? I shall ponder the matter. Cables at any rate, are joined on, and finally the glow plugs glow.
I wish I could tell you that the engine roared into life, and that it subsequently sailed through the MOT with the grace and style of a car 20 years younger. I really, really wish I could.
