The peanut butter and jam toastie was something we had to test. You never know, it might turn out to be the greatest single invention since the sandwich of the same name. Not that I consider that to be an exceptional culinary creation. I’m indifferent to peanuts at best, and have never understood what people see in them, but they work pretty well in the Elvis, so it was worth a try.
I believe for a traditional PBnJ grape jelly should be used. As grapes are meant for wine making and snacking, clearly they have no place in jam. We used strawberry.

It was just not as good at the sandwich. My firm belief that anything can be improved with toasting have been shattered. It’s hard to even say what exactly went wrong. Perhaps it just lacked the squashy, sandwichiness that you would normally expect. 3/10
Appeal
A peanutbutter and jam toastie is not something I’d ever order, but it would probably be quite a safe, child-friendly option. I just wouldn’t want to sell it. 4/10
Suitability as a signature.
Not new, not exciting and not hard to make at home. No good. 1/10
Difficulty Rating
As this this sandwich is significantly easier to make than a plain cheese toastie I don’t even think it registers on the difficulty scale. Not Rated.
You have to try these things. Especially late at night when you have very little other food in the house. We make these tough calls so you can enjoy a peanut butter and jam sandwich without guiltily wondering if you should have toasted it. Next time you make a PBnJ you can munch it safe in the knowledge that your Breville is best left out of this. Nice.
